Venus Attacks!

Dr. Varadamurthy, a famous Robotics scientist of DRDO, was fuming. When he asked Prajnavathi to defend the Earth from Venusians, she was reluctant. Prajnavathi was a defence-purpose robot designed by the scientist.

In Bengaluru, the Venusians were terraforming the Earth, by lodging a humongous tank on top of UB Tower. The tank was releasing huge amounts of some gas into the atmosphere.

The scientist was shouting now. “Prajnavathi, your only task is to defend Earth from Alien Invasions. The Defence and Prime Minister’s office are asking. Hell, even I want to know. Why can you not fight Venusians?”

Prajnavathi responded, “I analysed the gas being released by Venusians. It is a mixture of different greenhouse gases. Humans have been releasing these gases for their own needs, for years. So, I can only fight if Venusians are doing something against the interest of humans.”

(Author Notes: This story was written as part of creative writing workshop assignment. We were asked to write a story with very less words. I wanted to give the robot an Indian name, that would also indicate sentience. It is a generic story, but better than the alternate one which I had written first, with a reluctant superhero. I have produced the same below for reference. )

Alternate history-

Venus has invaded the Earth. The soldiers and scientists from Venus have started the process of terraforming Earth. They have found the strategic point in Bengaluru. They have placed a tank on top of UB towers and were releasing a huge number of gases into the atmosphere. 

Vichitramaan, the superhero, was sitting in a café, and observing news on Television. He actually had planned to fight the aliens, until he got to know they were Venusians. So, he stopped his flight midway and went into a café.

The café was empty except for a barista. The barista was shocked to see Vichitramaan in the café. Vichitramaan ordered a filter coffee. Barista asked, “Are you not going to save the Earth from Venusians?”

Vichitramaan sipped the exceptional filter coffee and sighed. "No use, as this is what we humans have been doing for years. We have been terraforming Earth into Venus, by releasing all those greenhouse gases for years. They are just doing it fast."
